I've been reading Cal Newport's book Digital Minimalism as of lately and I want to try out the method he proposes to achieve a more intentional lifestyle when it comes to tech.
With the start of the school year I've been struggling academically: my grades aren't as high as I want them to be but most of all I do not want to become that kind of person that just looks at their phone all the time, even while hanging out with friends. I personally find the tought that anybody would rather look at Instagram or TikTok than interact with their friends at a reunion.
I also observed that people that do not use traditional social media outlets (i.e Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube) still have a pretty high screen time and that's because mobile phones are inherently designed to be as easy and convinient to use as possible.
I've also been watching way to much YouTube.
My initial plan is to only use the technologies that are absolutely necessary to my personal and professional life, so this means that I'll only use my phone to communicate with my immidiate family (if necessary) and my classmates (I am the class 'president' so I have more responsibilities than the average student). I will also use my computer exclusively for school work (and maybe programming if I ever get around to do that).
I'll try to keep this website updated on my experiences.
